MEET THE MAKER

A warm welcome to my online shop! My name is Patty and I am the founder of Honest Origins Farm. I am a licensed mental health clinician by profession and strong believer in living a simple, natural lifestyle free from harmful chemicals. 

My natural skincare journey started when I was gifted a bar of handmade soap a few years ago. It was such a special experience. My skin felt so soft and I noticed the essential oils actually had a positive effect on the way I felt. I realized natural soap not only benefitted my skin but uplifted my mood, too, and for me, that was a win-win. Simply put, natural soap just felt good! At that point I decided to learn as much as I could about natural soapmaking the cold process way. I learned how to incorporate beautifully colored clays and botanicals for their mineral and healing properties along with essential oils for their calming, soothing and uplifting properties.

My goal is two-fold: To harness the power of nature to improve health and wellness and to live cleaner and greener. I believe that what we put on our bodies is just as important as what we put in our bodies. Natural skincare products are good food for our skin. And because I believe nature provides the best food for us, I will always strive to reduce my environmental footprint. Creating products that are in harmony with nature will always be a priority at Honest Origins Farm.

As our name implies, our origins are honest. You can be confident when you purchase from Honest Origins Farm you are getting a quality bath product made with ethically sourced, sustainable and natural ingredients free from synthetic detergents, fragrances, colors and preservatives. There will be no confusion when you read our product labels. You will not struggle to pronounce or define our ingredients, unlike some products in the commercial world that leave you feeling unsure. You can also rest assured that we are plastic-free and proudly offer biodegradable and/or recyclable packaging materials.

OUR INGREDIENTS

Our soaps are made with only high-quality oils and butters. We source organic oils as often as we can. The base oils in our recipes were specifically chosen for their skin softening and soothing properties. We proudly feature the following skin loving oils: 

  • Olive Oil is rich in vitamins A, D, K and E and gives soap its buttery texture. It has antioxidant and antibacterial properties and is known to moisturize and hydrate the skin.
  • Coconut Oil is rich in saturated fats and vitamin E. Known for giving soap its cleansing quality and rich, creamy lather, coconut oil can promote smooth, soft skin.
  • Avocado Oil is rich in vitamins A, D and E. It has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that help moisturize skin and keep it feeling soft and smooth.
  • Castor Oil is a thick, rich oil that acts as a humectant attracting moisture to the skin. This oil is said to have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that can help soothe skin and clear blemishes.
  • Shea Butter has high concentrations of vitamins A and E making it ideal for softening skin. Shea butter is known for its anti-inflammatory and healing properties which soothe and condition the skin.
  • Jojoba Oil is actually not an oil but a liquid wax that mimics skin’s natural sebum. This powerhouse ingredient is known for its ability to hydrate the skin, balance oil production, deliver antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects and help with skin breakouts. 

In addition to our nourishing base oils, we use healing botanicals and mineral rich clays. These additives give soap a rich array of color while soothing and gently exfoliating the skin. We only use delicate essential oils to scent our soap. We will never use synthetics in any manner.
